I need the Blue Jays to make some news or at least make some rumors.
In ‘old friend’ news, the Nationals signed Eric Thames to a 1-year, $3 million contract with an option year. They should get good value on that deal.
Not about the Jays but if you haven’t read this story, you should:
In a rambling, conspiracy-laced lawsuit, a failed prospect, who never played above High-A and had a career batting average of .244, sued the Yankees for $34 million and blamed Yankees legend Derek Jeter for derailing his career as a shortstop: https://t.co/XkbHuNycGT

There should be a cost to deter frivolous lawsuits:
In the lawsuit against the Yankees, Lassiter considers himself as a mix of Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager, the 2016 National League Rookie of the Year winner who made it farther than Lassiter did by age 20, and Brandon Weeden, a former Yankees pitching prospect went on to play parts of five seasons as an NFL quarterback.
He also wants money for a failed football and basketball career.
The Blue Jays have made the hiring of Shane Farrell as Amateur Scouting Director official. Everyone says good things about the guy, so hopefully, it will work out.
In the Athletic, Andrew Stoeten wrote about the outfield and the possibility of moving Cavan Biggio to center field. I like the idea better than going with Teoscar in center. But, as Andrew says, I’d also rather Grichuk in center over Teoscar too.
If you move Biggio to center, you open a hole at second base. Groshans is a couple of years away. You could use Drury at second, but he’s not a long term solution.
The other outfield question facing the Jays is who gets the fourth outfielder spot. Both Derek Fisher and Anthony Alford are out of options. I doubt both of them will make the team. Personally, I’d go with Alford, but I’m biased. Fisher has been a replacement level player for 4 parts of three seasons, Alford, I think, would be at least that, and likely better.
Let’s have a poll.
