OOTP Season Sim: Game 117

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays at Houston Astros Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

This is the game from August 7th. Game two of a four game series in Houston.

Blue Jays 4 Astros 7

The Jays lose their fifth in a row. Deep in a slump.

Aaron Sanchez only made it through 2.2 innings in his fourth start since coming over in a trade from the Mariners. He gave up 6 hits, including home runs by Yuli Gurriel and Kyle Tucker adding up to 6 earned. His ERA with the sim Jays is now 6.63 and he’s 0-2.

Chase Anderson pitched 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.

Eduardo Jimenez threw 3 innings, allowing 1 run on a Travis d’Arnaud home run.

On offense, we did pretty good against Astros Starter Zack Greinke. 9 hits and 4 earned against him in 6.2 innings. Vlad Guerrero (24th) and Lourdes Gurriel (27th) each homered. Vlad had 3 hits. No other Jay had more than one hit.

But the Jays couldn’t do anything against Astros relievers Michael Lorenzen and Ryan Pressly threw 2.1 perfect innings with 6 strikeouts.

Travis Shaw came out of the game with back spasms. He is day-to-day for 3 days.

And after the game Eduardo Jimenez was sent back down to New Hampshire and Dany Jimenez was called back up.

The Jays drop to 68-49, still in first, but now only 3 games up on the Rays.

Tomorrow Hyun Jin Ryu (9-4, 3.38 in 20 starts) tries to end the losing streak against Brad Peacock (1-3, 3.82 ERA in 24 games, 7 starts).
