There was a little bit of Blue Jays news coming out of a Ross Atkins press conference.
I agree with this whole list:
Clarity from Ross Atkins on handful of #BlueJays pitching roles heading into spring 2021.

SP
-RHP Thomas Hatch
-RHP Julian Merryweather
-LHP Anthony Kay
-RHP Elvis Luciano
RP
-LHP Ryan Borucki
-RHP Sean Reid-Foley
-RHP Patrick Murphy
-RHP Yennsy Diaz
-RHP Hector Perez
I think Patrick Murphy could be a very useful power arm out of the bullpen. Sean Reid-Foley looked good in all but one appearance from the pen. I do like relievers who have a little ‘we don’t know where this pitch is going’ in them.
Merryweather looked terrific as a reliever but I’d love to see him start. Same with Hatch. Kay really seems like a starter to me.
Anyone with complaints will this list?
In the duh section:
A to-the-point #Bluejays GM Ross Atkins on priorities: “Our walks were way too high for us to have sustained success. We have to throw the ball over the plate more and our defence has to be better."

It seems that the team doesn’t know what the budget will be next year just yet. Hopefully they will get to have fans in the stands.
Sounds as though #BlueJays are still working through what their payroll situation is beyond 2021. GM Ross Atkins says #Jays intend to add, but didn’t get into specifics or directly answer when asked whether a similar outlay to last off-season ($100 million+) is possible.

He also mentioned that Vlad could play some third base next year, which I think is a stupid idea. Put him at first, spend every available moment of spring training working with him at first and let’s see what we have. This idea that they have to have more than one position seems to lead to poor defense at multiple spots. I get that Cavan can play several positions but just because you can doesn’t mean you should. I say that about bass guitar solos too.
This should have been done long ago:

Three division series matchups are set ... and they are literally division series.

Yankees vs. Rays (AL East)
Astros vs. A's (AL West)
Marlins vs. Braves (NL East)
If the Padres win tonight to advance against the Dodgers, it'll complete the superfecta.
