This is the game from August 13th. It is game four of a four game series in St. Petersburg Florida.
The Jays and Rays split the four game series. The Rays scored 5 runs in the four and won two games. The Jays only had 17 hits in the series. We are going to need a little better than that if we want to stay atop the AL East.
In this game we only managed 3 hits, in 5.2 innings off Blake Snell. I’d make a joke about Kevin Cash pulling Snell in the middle of a great start, but he was up to 97 pitches. He allowed just 1 run, on a Lourdes Gurriel home run, his 30th.
We managed a run off our old friend Oliver Drake, in his 2 innings of work. Derek Fisher led off the seventh with a double, moved up to 3rd on a Teoscar Hernandez fly ball and scored on a balk by Drake. Thankfully 2 runs was enough.
We had 4 hits in total, 1 each from Gurriel, Gurerrero, Bichette and Fisher.
Caleb Joseph, making his 3rd start after being called up for the injured Danny Jansen, threw out Manuel Margot trying to steal.
The win gives us a little more room at the top of the AL East.
