During a regular year, Friday afternoons meant that you could come here to Bluebird Banter to find a new episode of Around The Nest, a weekly live podcast about the Blue Jays’ prospects and farm system. But because this was not a regular year, we only had one episode back in May.

We all miss the voices of the Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates, so host Jesse Goldberg-Strassler—the Voice of the Lansing Lugnuts—has been Zoom calling with broadcasters up and down the ladder this past month and we will be releasing those check-ins over the next few Fridays.

First up in our Offseason Zoom Around The Nest is not a minor league broadcaster (anymore at least): the Voice of the Toronto Blue Jays Ben Wagner joins Jesse for a conversation in his first appearance on Around The Nest since September 2017.

Throughout the chat, Ben describes the hobbies he picked up during the lockdown, the surreal experience of broadcasting major league games played in Buffalo while in Toronto (and commuting with Buck Martinez and Joe Siddal), not being around players and clubhouses, and a delightful story about Alejandro Kirk and postseason sensation Randy Arozarena.

Enjoy the show!
