OOTP Season Sim: Game 130

This is the game of August 21, game 2 of a 4 game set in the Bronx.

Blue Jays 1 Yankees 5

It is now a three game losing streak and the lead at the top of the division is getting narrower.

It wasn’t a good Nate Pearson start. 7 hits, 3 earned, 1 walk, 6 strikeouts in just 4.1 innings. He gave up a solo home run to Aaron Judge in the first. And then gave up 2 more run in the third on a walk, a single, a ground out that moved up the runners and Judge single to score them. On the season he’s averaged 5.1 innings, but he’s had soe short starts that kind of tax the bullpen.

Jordan Romano pitched 3.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, with 4 strikeouts. He gave up a home run to Mike Ford, who has been playing first base for the Yankees in this sim. He’s hitting .277/.377/.537 with 17 home runs in 77 games, which is in line with what he did in 2019. His real 2020 season wasn’t good, .135/.226/.270.

The offense? Well, our former friend J.A. Happ had his second best start of the season, going 8.1 with 7 hits, 1 earned, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. He had a complete game shutout early in the season.

The one run again was a Bo Bichette home run (his 36th), our only extra base hit of the game.

The team leads the league in home runs, but there has been a bit of a power outage of late.

It is getting tighter. 32 games left and a 2.5 game lead is good but wins will be needed.

Tomorrow’s game has Anthony Kay (3-2, 3.56 in 8 starts) going against Masahiro Tanaka (9-8, 4.19 ERA in 25 starts).

Vancouver Canadians aren’t having a great season, like most of the Jays sim minor league teams.

Orelvis Martinez is having a great season with the bat. I’d be wanting him moved up in real like. PK Morris is clubbing the ball too. Jordan Groshans, on the other hand, isn’t showing why he is a top prospect.

There are no pitchers that really stand out.
