In fitting fashion for 2020, just because the World Series ended doesn’t mean the drama ended as well.
Immediately after the Dodgers won the title, the focus turned to the three open managerial positions. Two of those have since been filled and both new hires are already being questioned.
Of the three jobs that were open, the Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox, the White Sox was voted as the most desirable position. However, fewer than 50 percent of fans think the team will find success with new manager Tony La Russa.
La Russa and the White Sox aren’t the only ones catching attention. The Tigers hired former Astros manager AJ Hinch, only a season removed from the Houston cheating scandal. Nearly 50 percent of fans don’t believe Hinch should have been given another MLB opportunity.
Even the new World Series champions have found themselves in the middle of controversy. At some point in the seventh inning of Game 6, the Dodgers learned third baseman Justin Turner had tested positive for COVID-19. However, after they won, Turner was on the field celebrating in close contact with teammates, at times without a mask.
Nearly three-fourths of fans believe Turner should face a penalty for the celebration.
Fans were also asked who was the best player in the World Series. Randy Arozarena won at 52% followed by Seager 21%, Betts 19% and Snell 7%.
And asked what was the best moment from the World Series. Arozarena’s game winning run was the top vote getter at 56%. After that it was Snell pulled early 29%, Turner’s positive test 8% and the final out 6%.
