Quick spring recaps: Two games, a win and a loss

MLB: Spring Training-Toronto Blue Jays at Philadelphia Phillies Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Two games today. A win and a loss.

Yankees 4 Blue Jays 1

Nate Pearson started and had a 3 strikeout inning. Apparently he was throwing 96-98 with the fastball. I wish we could have watched, but it did sound very good.

Other pitchers:

  • Julian Merryweather: He got the first two Yankees to strikeout. Then he ran into a little trouble, 2 hits and a run before getting out of the inning. Apparently he was also in the high 90s.
  • Patrick Murphy: 1 inning, 2 strikeouts.
  • A.J. Cole: 1 inning, 1 walk.
  • Yennsy Diaz: 2 innings, 3 strikeouts.
  • Phillippe Aumont: 2 innings, 2 hits, 3 earne, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts. He had a tough inning, but his second inning went smooth.
  • Jackson McClellan: 1 inning, 1 hit, 2 k. The Yankees saw a few flame throwers today. No walks for Jackson, which is a good thing.

Batters:

  • Derek Fisher: 0 for 2, 2 k.
  • Randal Grichuk: 0 for 2.
  • Joe Panik: 0 for 2, k.
  • Vladimir Guerrero: 1 for 2, opposite field single.
  • Travis Shaw: 0 for 2, k.
  • Teoscar Hernandez: 0 for 2.
  • Reese McGuire: 0 for 2, k.
  • Anthony Alford: 0 for 2, 2 k.
  • Santiago Espinal: 2 for 2, home run (our only extra base hit of the game).
  • Griffin Conine: 1 for 2, k.
  • Gabriel Moreno: 0 for 2, k.
  • Logan Warmoth: 0 for 2.
  • Andy Burns: 0 for 1.
  • Riley Adams: 0 for 1 k.
  • Chavez Young: 0 for 1, k.

Blue Jays 13 Phillies 6

A ton more offense in this one.

  • Chase Anderson: 2 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, 1 walk, 1 k.
  • T.J. Zeuch: 2 innings, 1 walk, 1 k.
  • Jordan Romano: 1 inning, 1 hit, 2 k.
  • Brian Moran: 1 clean inning, with a cool sidearm delivery.
  • Jake Petricka: 1 inning, 3 hits, 4 earned, 1 walk, 1 home run.
  • Hobie Harris: 1 inning, 2 k. He just became a Blue Jay today, off minor league waivers from the Yankees.
  • Andrew Sopko: 1 inning, 1 k.

Hitters:

  • Billy McKinney: 3 hits, double, homer.
  • Bo Bichette: 0 for 3.
  • Cavan Biggio: 0 for 1, walk.
  • Danny Jansen: 1 for 2, walk.
  • Rowdy Tellez: 2 for 3, double and home run.

  • Ruben Tejada: 0 for 2.
  • Joe Palacios: 0 for 3, 2 k.
  • Demi Orimoloye: 0 for 2, k.
  • Otto Lopez: 2 for 3, 2 doubles.
  • Patrick Cantwell: 1 for 1, walks.
  • Brock Lundquist: 1 for 2, double. Sporting a porn star mustache.
  • Kevin Smith: 1 for 2, home run.
  • Reggie Pruitt: 2 for 2, triple, homer. He can motor....just flew around the bases.
