With tomorrow an off-day, the Jays end April 13-11. The 5-1 March sure helped things out.
We got another great start from Hyun-Jin Ryu. 7.1 innings, 7 hits, 1 earned, 0 walks and 7 strikeouts. Ryu has had 7 starts and in six of them he hasn’t allowed a walk. That’s pretty amazing.
Rafael Dolis pitched the last 1.2, allowing 2 hits, 1 earned and 1 walk, picking up his second save. He gave up a home run to Jackie Bradley in the ninth, but by then we were up by 7, so it didn’t matter.
On offense we had 8 hits and 4 walks. Half the hits were home run. Teoscar Hernandez, Derek Fisher, Randal Grichuk, Reese McGuire, and Travis Shaw each hit home runs.
We scored:
- 3 runs in the third: Bo Bichette led off the inning with a single and Hernandez hit a 421 foot home run. Two outs later, Fisher hit a solo homer.
- And then no again until the eighth inning: Hernandez led off with a walk. An out later, Grichuk homered. Fisher followed with a triple, Lourdes Gurriel was intentionally walked and Shaw hit a 3-run homer.
Let’s give JoDs to Ryu, Teoscar and Grichuk.
For the Red Sox Collin McHugh went 7.1 innings but gave up 5 earned runs and 3 home runs.
25,592 sim Jays fans (Jays sim fans?) showed up at a closed Rogers Centre for today’s game.
The Jays are now 18-12.
