In some league news, Mookie Betts, from the Dodgers, and Ranger Suarez, from the Phillies were each suspended for 4 games after a bench clearing brawl. After the Dodgers had scored 7 runs in the fourth inning, Suarez hit Betts with a pitch and Betts charged the mound, and the benches cleared.
Blue Jays 3 Rangers 4 (11 innings)
Nate Pearson had a pretty good start, 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 earned, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
It was a back and forth game.
We scored two in the second: Derek Fisher led off with a walk, went to second when Rowdy Tellez walked. Travis Shaw bunted (you gotta be kidding, our leading home run hitter) the runners to second and third. Cavan Biggio singled them home. I guess someone would say the bunt worked.
In the third: The Rangers got one back. Robinson Chirinos singled and Elvis Andrus drove him home with a double. Andrus was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple.
In the fourth: In the top of inning, we loaded the bases with one-out but didn’t score. Shaw (walk), Biggio (double) and Jansen (hit by pitch) were stranded on fly outs from Anthony Alford and Bo Bichette.
In the bottom of the inning: Rangers tied it up Willie Calhoun singled, Joey Gallo walked and both moved up on a Ronald Guzman ground out.
The score stayed tied until the seventh. Gurriel reached on a one-out error on reliever Brett Martin. An out later he went to third on a Fisher single. Tellez scored Gurriel with a single.
We had a 1-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth, and Ken Giles came in and gave up a leadoff homer to Rougned Odor, for his third blown save of the season. Giles got out of the inning without anymore damage.
Giles started the bottom of the tenth giving up a double and a walk, before getting the first out. Chase Anderson came into the game. Not a guy I’d want to see with the game winning run at second but he got a fly out and a ground out to end the inning.
We didn’t get a base running in the 11th. In the bottom of the inning Rafael Dolis came in. He gave up a one-out walk to Chirinos. Matt Duffy followed with a single but Grichuk threw out Chirinos going for third base from right field. Andrus singled to put the winning on second. Out goes Dolis, in comes Jordan Romano. Romano gave up a single to Danny Santana and Duffy scored to win the game.
We had 10 hits, Biggio had 3 of them, bringing his average up to .178 on the season. Fisher and Tellez had 2 each.
0 fors went to Bichette, Guerrero, and Alford. Anthony is hitting .071 now (and Hernandez was send to the minors?).
Five losses in a row now, but still tied for first.

Tomorrow Tanner Roark (0-2, 5.45 ERA in 7 starts) tries to end the losing skid. After the bullpen was used up today he better go deep in the game. Kolby Allard (0-1, 3.60 in 2 starts) goes for the Rangers.
