Tanner Roark has made 9 starts. He’s got a reasonable ERA (4.56), but he doesn’t have a win yet this season (he’s 0-2). Today, Tanner goes 6.2 innings, allows just 6 hits, 2 earned, 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. He gave up a home run to Carlos Correa, that scored both the runs. You’ think we could get him a win sooner or later.

Dany Jimenez took over for him with 2 outs in the seventh and got out of the inning. But the eighth didn’t go as well. He gave up a Michael Brantley to start the inning, which would be the winning run. Then he hit a batter and walked a batter and that was enough for sim Charlie.

Anthony Bass managed to get out of the inning without the inherited runners scoring. Bass got the first out of the ninth. Jordan Romano got the last two outs of the ninth.

We didn’t do enough on offense. 7 hits, 4 walks, but just the 2 runs.

We scored 1 in the fourth. Vladimir Guerrero led off with a walk. Bo Bichette singled. An out later, Randal Grichuk singled to load the bases. After a strikeout, Vlad scored on a wild pitch, before Travis Shaw ground out to end the inning.

And 1 in the seventh on a Danny Jansen home run (his first of the season). Jansen had 3 hits, the only Jay with more than 1 hit. Danny’s average is up to .232 now.

Travis Shaw has now gone 14 days without a home run.

Despite an 8-9 May so far, we are still in first place.

Tomorrow Matt Shoemaker (1-6, 8.92 ERA in 9 starts) goes against the Astros and Zack Greinke (5-1, 3.10 in 9 starts).
