We got another poor start from Chase Anderson. He went 3 innings plus one batter, before coming out of the game with a sore thumb. He’s day-to-day but will likely be able to make his next start.
Chase gave up 3 runs in the first inning. A single (Jose Martinez), triple (Austin Meadows) and home run (Hunter Renfroe) put us down 3-0.
To start the fourth inning he gave up a Yandy Diaz single and had to come out of the game with the sore finger.
Wilmer Font came in and gave up a pair of singles to load the bases and then a home run to Jose Martinez to unload them and we were down 7-2.
The Rays got another run in the fifth, off Eduardo Jimenez (helped along by a Cavan Biggio error). And two more in the seventh (split between Anthony Bass and Dany Jimenez).
On offense we had 10 hits: 3 from Lourdes Gurriel, 2 each from Vladimir Guerrero, Bo Bichette and Randal Grichuk, and 1 from Caven Biggio. But the 4 at the bottom of the order went 0 for 13 with 2 walks.
Bichette hit a home run.
We also had 3 errors, one each from Vlad, Cavan and Travis Shaw.
Let’s give suckage awards to Anderson and Font. JoDs for Bo and Gurriel.
55 games in and the Jays are still in first place:
