Every Friday afternoon during the minor league baseball season, the Voice of the Lansing Lugnuts Jesse Goldberg-Strassler hosts Around The Nest, a live podcast about the Blue Jays’ minor league system. It features the radio broadcasters of every active minor league level who gives insights about up-and-coming Blue Jays prospects that cannot be seen from boxscores. Around The Nest was started in 2012 by Dunedin’s then-broadcaster Craig Durham, and Jesse has kept it going every season since.
With the COVID-19-related postponement to the start of the baseball season, we have yet to have an episode this year even though we are now well into May. But fear not! This Friday, Jesse rounded up his pals from up and down the farm to give us the very first Zoom Around The Nest video podcast!
This episode features Jesse along with Rob Fai (Vancouver), Zach Helton (Bluefield), Bob Lipman (New Hampshire), Pat Malacaro (Buffalo), Tyler Murray (New Hampshire), and Tyler Zickel (New Hampshire). They convened over Zoom to discuss time without baseball, from their personal moment of shutdown to the impending minor league contraction to the future of the Jays’ system.
