OOTP Season Sim Game 57: Jays win game one of double-header of Orioles

This game is game one of Friday’s games, we just had enough on the site yesterday.

I was surprised that the Blue Jays didn’t make any roster moves going into the double-header (and OOTP has never used the rule for the extra roster spot for double-headers).

Blue Jays 6 Orioles 0 (game one)

We got a very good start out of Tanner Roark, He went 7 scoreless innings, gave up 7 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts, picking up his first win of the season. Nice that he could go deep into the game, with it being the first of two today.

Wilmer Font pitched the last two innings, without giving up a baserunner.

On offense, we only had 8 hits, but 3 of them were home runs. Danny Jansen had one and Bo Bichette two. Bichette drove in 5 of our 6 runs.

We scored:

  • 3 in the first: The Orioles went with Hunter Harvey in the ‘opener’ role. It didn’t go well (of course the concept of the opener might not be a great one for a simulation game). Cavan Biggio started the game with a bunt single and went to second on a wild pitch. After Lourdes Gurriel struck out, Vladimir Guerrero reached on an error by Orioles 3B Rio Ruiz. Bichette followed with his first home run of the game.
  • 3 in the fifth: Danny Jansen started the inning off with a home run. Biggio doubled and, two outs later, Bo hit his second home run of the season.

Teoscar Hernandez still doesn’t have a hit since returning from Buffalo.

Let’s give JoDs to Bichette, Roark, Wilmer and Biggio.

Jays are now 33-24.
