OOTP Season Sim Game 38: Jays second in a row to A’s

Blue Jays 3 A’s 7

Another crappy start from Matt Shoemaker. He went just 2.2, giving up 5 hits, 2 home runs, 6 earned, 2 walks with 3 strikeouts. His ERA is above 9 now at 9.62. Chase Anderson was dropped from the rotation, I’m wondering how long they can keep running Matt out there.

The bullpen did a good job, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing just 2 run. But it really didn’t matter:

  • Jordan Romano: 2.1, 2 hits, 1 earned, with 7 strikeouts. All his outs were by strikeout.
  • Chase Anderson: 1.2, 1 hit, 3 strikeouts.
  • Anthony Bass: 1.1, clean, 1 k.

On offense we had 10 hits, but only scored 3 runs. Bo Bichette hit a home run. The only other extra base hit was a Lourdes Gurriel double.

Randal Grichuk, Teoscar Hernandez and Travis Shaw had 2 hits each. Shaw has now gone 5 games without a home run. It is the first time he’s gone five games without a home run this year.

Vladimir Guerrero is in a slump. April 20th he was hitting .373/.459/.651. After today’s game he’s hitting .286/.386/.479. He is 1 for 15 over the last 5 games (with 6 walks). And Cavan Biggio isn’t hitting at all, .160/.213/.202. In my OOTP game he’s not hitting great, but he’s hitting much better than that.

31,639 came out to walk the game at that terrible park in Oakland. I don’t understand why they would have more people coming out than we’d have coming to Rogers Centre.

The Jays are 23-15 now.

Tomorrow Shun Yamaguchi (3-0, 3.04, in 10 games, 3 starts) tries to end the Jays 2 game losing streak. Frankie Montas (1-1, 7.78 ERA in 8 starts) goes for the A’s.
