OOTP Season Sim Game 67: Jays lose to Mariners

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports

Marines 11 Blue Jays 1

I don’t know how sim Charlie Montoyo keeps running Chase Anderson out there. I mean they took him out of the rotation earlier in the season, but put him in again when Hyu-Jin Ryu went on the IL. He went back to the bullpen when Ryu came off the IL, but now Ryu’s hurt again, back to the rotation goes Chase. I’m ready to fire sim Charlie, but then he has us in first place.

Today Chase went 4 innings, allowed 8 hits, 7 earned, 1 walk with 4 strikeouts. It surprises me that he could give up 7 earned in 4 innings without giving up a home run. As a starter, Chase has a 10.50 ERA (in 7 starts). As a reliever he has a pretty good 3.93 ERA in 10 appearances. The Jays have a few pitchers doing great in Buffalo, why not bring one up. In the game I’m running I ended up releasing Anderson (no one would take him in trade).

Jordan Romano gave up 4 more runs, while getting just 2 outs, following Anderson. He did give up a home run, Mallex Smith took him deep.

Not that it mattered, we didn’t do much on offense. 6 hits in total. Travis Shaw got us our run with his 19th homer of the season.

After having over 40,000 at the games over the weekend, only 29,895 came out to watch tonight’s game.

Tomorrow Matt Shoemaker starts (1-6, 7.80 ERA in 13 starts). He really isn’t doing much better than Anderson. Our old friend Aaron Sanchez (2-6, 3.94 ERA in 10 starts) goes for the Mariners. In the sim world he was signed by the Mariners to a minor league contract at the start of the season.
