We knew this was coming, but nice of the Blue Jays not to play around, instead they are just telling it like it is:

See you in a week Nate.
The Dodgers have signed Mookie Betts to a 12-year extension worth $365 million. That’s on top of the $27 million he was owed this year (which is now $10 million prorated). It sounds like he’s getting $300 million plus a $65 million signing bonus. It will be $25 million a year, plus that signing bonus. That will take him out to age 40. I don’t think I’m going to buy the owner’s claim of poverty in the future. . I’m not sure what that works out to in cheese doodles (Google let me down) but there was something that says there are 15 million pounds of cheese doodles made a year, I’d imagine you could buy them all for what he’s making.
And Jon Heyman tells us that MLB and the Players Association are discussion expanded playoffs for this season.
Sources: MLB and union are re-engaging on the possibility of expanded playoffs for this season. Has to be done before first pitch 25 hours from now, but there seems to be optimism. Hope was to go from 10 playoff teams to 16.

Playoffs seem like they are years away. I have my doubts we’ll gets there, so why not mess with the playoffs now. I really can’t get worked up about what they do with the playoffs, but it would be nice to have it figured out before the season starts.
