Happy Opening Day version 2.0.
Bits of news:
- Ken Giles is going to be ‘checked out’ again tomorrow and have another MRI. It sounds like he is feeling like he’s almost able to start throwing, but they want to be sure all is good.
- In news that seems perhaps related:
The @MLB Trade Deadline is two weeks from Monday. One GM told me the industry is (understandably) still getting its bearings with respect to possible moves. With 16 teams making postseason, fewer sellers are expected this year. @MLBNetwork

I’m hoping this doesn’t turn into the same troubles we had with Josh Donaldson.
- I’m very curious to see what happens tonight and to hear what players say afterwards. Sahlen Field looks good in pictures but it will be interesting to see what players think. And see how the lighting works.
- The Jays haven’t scored more than 3 runs so far this month (just six games). Sooner or later they are going to have to score some runs.
- The Blue Jays are offering virtual on-line tickets for tonight’s game
- Astros hitting coach Alex Cintron was suspended for 20 games and A’s outfielder Ramon Laureano gets 6 games for their parts in Sunday’s brawl. I really think Cintron should be gone for the season. If I was in charge of the Astros I would fire him. There are things that shouldn’t be said on the field.
