We haven’t done one of these in a long time.
They have had a lot of moving parts to deal with. The ‘summer camp’. The search for a home field, finding a home field, losing it, searching again, rinse and repeat. I don’t know how much they could have done better.
Sahlen Field looks much better than I thought it would. I didn’t see any complaints about the lighting. Bo Bichette said “Coming in, we didn’t really know what to expect. I kind of expected to be underwhelmed but the Jays did an amazing job.” I wonder if the Jays would consider doing a series in Buffalo in future seasons? I guess the new clubhouses will be taken down when/if the world goes back to normal.
The Hyun Jin Ryu signing is looking better after his last couple of starts. Shun Yamaguchi and Travis Shaw aren’t looking as good. It is early I guess.
Anthony Kay is making the Marcus Stroman trade look better. Stroman’s injury and opt out isn’t helping it from the Mets’ end. The Sanchez trade is kind of a wash. Sanchez is looking for a contract (he’d be worth looking at for a bullpen), Joe Biagini is on the IL with a sore shoulder, he has a 7.63 ERA in 14 games with the Astros. Derek Fisher has apparently ceased to exist (actually he’s on the IL with a quad injury).
I’ve been happy with their drafting, thought I’d like to think that, had I been in charge, I would have picked Austin Martin first too. The Nate Pearson pick is looking good. I see that Baseball America has the Jays ranked 4th among MLB farm systems.
I’d like them to be stronger in insisting the coaches actually wear their masks properly. And they might want to look into studies showing those neck wrap things don’t work as a mask.
Let’s have the poll, show your work in the comment thread.
