The Blue Jays have added catcher Caleb Joseph to the active roster, and optioned Reese McGuire to the alternative site.
To make room on the 40-man, Ken Giles was transfered to the 45-day IL. Giles went on the IL July 27th (last played on the 26th, so he’s already been out 41 days. He could still be back by next weekend.
Reese has had his troubles this season, with just 3 hits in 45 PA. And he’s made 3 errors but is 4 for 8 throwing out base stealers, which surprises me since he’s been doing that throw from his knees thing. It is tough to get the bat going playing just a couple of times a week, but that’s the job and he wasn’t doing it.
I think we all were hoping to see Alejandro Kirk, but Joseph has been traveling with the team all season, so likely fair to give him the first shot. Though fairness isn’t really a baseball thing. Caleb has been getting a lot of praise for helping out in the clubhouse, taking a leadership type role.
No Biggio or Gurriel today. I’d rather just one sit out at a time, but I’m not running things. Panik has been hitting better of late. Fisher? Well, I understand he is due or something stupid like that.
