The Blue Jays are no longer ‘always a bridesmaid never a bride’. They have signed closer Kirby Yates. No word on the length or value of the contract.
Yates is 33, had a terrific 2019 season, had elbow issues this past year but surgery to remove bone chips, and should be healthy for spring training.
We’ll add to this when more details come out. Welcome to the Jays Kirby. Hope you enjoy your stay.
Apparently, Yates is signed for $5.5 million with an extra $4.5 million in incentives.
Per source, Kirby Yates actually has a $5.5 million guarantee from #BlueJays for 2021

Deal also includes $4.5 million in performance bonuses for appearances and awards
Also Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton has passed away. Sutton won 324 games in the MLB, most of those with the Dodgers. He was 75.
