Tuesday Bantering: Bits of Jays Stuff

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

There are little bits of Jays stuff that we didn’t touch on yet:

George Springer was the AL Player of the Week for the last week of the season. He went 13 for 26, scoring hitting 3 home runs, with 10 RBI, and scoring 8 times.

And Alek Manoah was AL Rookie of the Month. He was 4-0 in September, with a 3.38 ERA. He had 41 strikeouts in 37.1 innings.

Not that is it likely to happen, Marcus Stroman has said he’s open to a return to the Blue Jays. I mean, he’s a free agent, why would he say he wouldn’t accept offers from any team. At the very least it could drive up the price. I don’t see it is likely the Jays would be interested.

The Toronto branch of the BBWAA had their vote on their Blue Jays awards. No surprises:

  • Player of the Year: Vladimir Guerrero.
  • Pitcher of the Year: Robbie Ray.
  • Rookie of the Year: Alek Manoah.
  • Unsung Hero: Santiago Espinal.

Tonight is the AL Wild Card game. Yankees and Red Sox. It is an 8:00 Eastern start, which seems awfully late for you guys out east. We’ll put up a GameThread. I’ll likely watch just because there isn’t much baseball left this season.
