The 2021 Blue Jays ZiPS projections are out. Over the next few weeks, we’ll put up a series of over/under polls, using the batter’s OPS and the pitcher’s ERA as predicted by ZiPS.
Rowdy Tellez has become a favorite. ZiPS figures him to have a .824 OPS (along with 27 home runs and 2! steals). ZiPS doesn’t try to get plate appearances right, thinking there are too many factors involved to hope to get that right. Tellez had a .886 OPS in 2020, unfortunately in just 127 PA, because of the knee injury. In 2019 it was .742.
I’m curious to see how Rowdy gets used this year. We could use a good left-handed bat in the lineup. It seems Rowdy has to prove himself each year.
