Thursday Bantering: Rumors, Coaching Staff

Ben Nicholson-Smith and Shi Davidi wrote about the Blue Jays choosing between James Paxton and Taijuan Walker (and I’m thinking ‘why not both’). They are saying the Paxton has more upside, but Walker is more stable.

Paxton would be good to have in a playoff start. Walker is more likely to make a start every fifth day.

Of course, this assumes that both would sign with them.

Let’s do a poll:

The Jays announced coaching staff.

And Shi tells that Casey Candaele will be the new manager of the Buffalo Bisons and Cesar Martin will be the manager of the Fisher Cats. He was going to be manager last year, but the season didn’t happen.

Candaele was overseeing players who weren’t at the alternative camp last year, an interesting job title.

I truly don’t get the idea of wanting to sign Yadier Molina. If we wanted a catcher in his late 30s we could have kept Russell Martin. Molina is going to be 39 in July. When was the last time you saw a good 39-year-old catcher (not counting the steroid era)? I guess the title of ‘winner’ counts for some walks. But then Molina’s just using the Jays to up his price with the Cardinals.
