About the only news we get during spring training is bad news.
This is bad news. Kirby Yates is out with a flexor pronator strain. I have no idea what that really means, but I do understand the ‘miss multiple weeks’. That means 60-IL to me. You can read about what it is here. I like that it says it happens to cricket players.
On that page it says: typically resolves with 4-6 weeks of activity restriction, so perhaps 60 days is overstating things, but when you consider the time to ramp back up to pitching, I don’t think we’ll see him on the mound until June.
I would think that Jordan Romano will move into the closer role.
Get better quick Kirby.
RHP Kirby Yates has been diagnosed with a flexor-pronator strain in his right arm. #BlueJays are still gathering information at this time, but Kirby is expected to miss multiple weeks.
