There hasn’t been all that much for news coming out of the Blue Jays spring training camp, well other than injuries, but Jays reporters are saying that Joe Panik has been told he will make the team. Personally, I’d prefer Santago Espinal, but we can’t have everything.
Panik will need a spot on the 40-man. Kirby Yates will be moved to the 60-day IL and Breyvic Valera is out of options and won’t be making the active roster, so there is another spot.
And, I’m pretty sure Alejandro Kirk will be making the team, so Reese McGuire, also without options, will be coming off the 40-man.
Tonight’s Jays spring game has been added to the Sportsnet schedule, 6:30 Eastern start, so we will get to see the last four spring games. Well, unless, like me, you made other plans for tonight.
Ryu pitches tonight, his last action before opening day. I’d imagine he’ll be looking for five innings or so.
If you want to make a prediction on a surprise player who you think will make the opening day roster, now is the time to let us know.
