Wednesday Bantering: Jays Notes

I have workers in the house this morning. We are getting a new floor put into the lining room, so lots of noise and disruptions to the WiFi.

Today’s BlueJays/Yankees spring game is a night game at George Steinbrenner Field. And it doesn’t look like there is any TV or radio coverage, or at least MLB.tv doesn’t list any. I would have thought that YES would have wanted to show a primetime game.

Simeon Woods Richardson gets the start for the Jays, making it even worse that we don’t get to watch. I would love to see him pitch. Other pitchers likely to throw are Alek Manoah (yeah, I’d like to see him too), Nick Allgeyer, Anthony Castro, and Kirby Snead.

The Jays lineup:

Danny Jansen, C

Joe Panik, 2B

Kevin Smith, 3B

Chevez Young, CF

Jansen has seen a lot of action early. Some guys like lots of at-bats early. Some like to take BP a lot first. I think Danny is 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts, so he needs to get his timing down.

Shi Davidi has a post about George Springer up.

Manager Charlie Montoyo has been careful not to commit to any lineup combinations just yet, but conceded that putting Springer up top “could be a hint” into his current thinking.

I’m not a fan of Springer hitting leadoff. I’d rather Cavan Biggio, all things being equal, but they don’t listen to me. Charlie is talking about Biggio sixth. I’d like Springer batting 2 or 3. But then we should have a good batting order no matter what Charlie chooses.

And he mentions Steven Matz’s good outing yesterday, saying he hit 95.9 on the radar. And that Mayza averaged 94.2 on his two-seamer in his inning of work.

Ryu goes at his own speed in the spring.

I got a from FOCO telling me about an officially licensed George Springer bobblehead. I have a couple of bobbleheads from them, and they are good quality. This one looks nice.
