The Blue Jays have picked up Juan Graterol from the Angels for cash. He will report to the alternate site.

Graterol played for the Reds last year, getting into 6 games, with 4 hits in 18 PA. In all he has 67 games of MLB experience, hitting .218/.227/.266. He is 32, a right-handed hitting catcher. This seems to suggest that Reese McGuire is on his way out. Graterol gives us a veteran catcher who could come up if a catcher was hurt.

Riley Adams is with the team in New York, on the taxi squad, but the team might not be comfortable using him if a catcher is needed or for an extended period of time.

Reese? Well, odds are someone will take him on waivers, since he doesn’t have a roster spot.
