Thursday Bantering: Kay to start, Stripling to IL

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Middle of the opening month and the Blue Jays are about the use their 8th starter (if you consider Phelps a starter).

Anthony Kay gets added to the roster to make tonight’s start. Ross Stripling goes on the IL. He couldn’t get loose before yesterday’s game. They are hoping he won’t be out any longer than the 10 days.

Kay makes his first start since September 2019 (he’ll be wearing 42), after being in the pen last year. I’ve been saying that I’d rather Kay in the rotation than Roark and now the Jays are saying it too. Roark and Milone were also considered for tonight’s start.

Hoping Kay does well and gets to continue in the rotation.

We now have ten players on the IL. Could be worse, the Astros have 14 on their list.
