So there are things the Blue Jays do that will surprise you:
- George Springer activated from the IL.
- Travis Bergen recalled.
- Rowdy Tellez optioned to the Alternate site.
- Hyun Jin Ryu played on the 10-day IL. Backdated to April 26.
Ryu, they must have decided, wouldn’t be making his next start. I’m hopeful that he’ll only be missing the one start. I’d think he’d make the start on May 6. I guess it is best to be safe.
Rowdy? Well, that one surprises me. I guess they wanted to keep Jonathan Davis because Springer isn’t ready to play the outfield. But, I’m hugely surprised that Rowdy was sent out. He’s had a slow start, but 60 poor at-bats shouldn’t change the team’s mind on what they have. I guess if Springer isn’t playing the outfield, there won’t be many DH at-bats to go around.
Rowdy is hitting .183/.222/.267 with just 1 home run.
Bergen was up a few days ago but was sent back without getting into a game.
The team announced their starters for the weekend:
- Friday: Robbie Ray.
- Saturday: Bullpen day.
- Sunday: TBD (likely Ross Stripling.
Tonight’s lineup. Springer at the top. I might have left Biggio there.
