The Jays are in Texas to take on the Rangers in front of an at full capacity, barbecue resembling, brand new stadium. The Rangers will be Odor-less as Rougned Odor didn’t make the team out of Spring Training.
Since this at capacity qualifier will likely prompt discussions even more so than the first three games, we’d like to take a moment to kindly request that any debates about COVID-19, safety protocols, state guidelines and/or vaccines stay out of the GameThreads. We know this is a very important topic dominating our lives, but want to this to be a space free from that where we can just talk about baseball.
If you want to discuss those things on this forum, Takiar, who has degrees in this, wrote an excellent and resourceful fanpost and is happy to discuss things with anyone there.
Alright, let’s play ball!
We have one positive injury update:
George Springer is “doing really well,” per Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo.
— Arden Zwelling (@ArdenZwelling) April 5, 2021
Next step in Springer's recovery from an oblique strain is taking live batting practice on Tuesday. He's eligible to come off IL on Thursday.
Here are today’s lineups. Jonathan Davis gets a start in center, Gurriel gets a day off, and Rowdy will play first base.
GO JAYS GO!
We are glad you are here, and hope you feel welcome. As a reminder, we have rules. Mostly it’s “don’t be terrible,” but these days it’s also, “please debate about baseball and not the coronavirus or vaccines.” If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, please stop. If you want to discuss the rules, don’t do it in the thread. Email Tom instead. We also have a BBB Glossary full of GameThread lingo you can find here. You can Adopt-a-Jay here, and here’s a helpful tutorial on how to post images in comments.
