Wednesday Bantering: Jays extend Ross Atkins

The Blue Jays have signed Ross Atkins to a five year contract extension. Since he was already signed for this season, that carries him through 2026. When Mark Shapiro got his extension, we knew Atkins would as well. Shi Davidi tells us that it goes one year longer than Mark’s recent extension.

I’m ok with it, the team seems to be going in the right direction. Our latest react poll had 100% of us agreeing that they are going in the right direction, so I can’t see there will be too much upset, though I had a long twitter argument yesterday with someone saying Gord Ash should be hired. I politely disagreed. Well not politely.

I really don’t know what the division of responsibilities is in the front office. I’d imagine it is fairly collaborative.

It does seem a fairly long term for an GM.

A late add....we won’t be seeing George Springer for awhile longer.

Today’s lineup. Danny Jansen is back in. Remember it is a 2:00 start. Bo gets a half day off, DHing, Semien plays short and Panik plays second.

It is Hazel Mae’s birthday today. Happy Birthday, I hope it is a good one.
