Shi Davidi, among others, tells us the Blue Jays will start playing Buffalo on June 1st. I think we figured that would be the date.
They will sell tickets up to 24% of the capacity of Sahlen Field, which would be just short of 4,000 people, for, at least, the first three series. Those wanting to go will have to show proof of being vaccinated or a very recent negative test results (within 72 hours of game time). And there will be screening for symptoms and a temperature check at the entrance. I want Canada to do a vaccine passport, but that’s a digression.
I don’t know how far down the road it will be before Canadian fans can cross the border and go see a game there, but it is much closer for you guys in Ontario.
Also, the team has said they haven’t given up on the idea of playing in Toronto at some point this season, but that’s not going to happen soon.
Game time will shift back to 7:00 in Buffalo, with Saturday games at 3:00 and Sunday games at 1:00. I much prefer Saturday games at 1:00, but they didn’t poll me on the issue.
There are a few changes:
- The bullpens will no longer be on the field in foul territory (thank you) but behind the outfield walls.
- The players have new batting cages.
- There are new weight rooms.
- 2 new light poles, with LED bulbs.
- And the outfield has been resod, if that’s a word. Resodded? Resowed? Resewed?
There is an open question on whether George Springer will be back in the lineup by then.
I know people get upset about the team not being upfront about what is going on with him, but I’m not worried about it, they don’t owe us information on everything. Since he’s still on the active roster, there isn’t much upside in telling the other team that he is unavailable or not.
Let’s have a poll:
