There are a few little updates this morning.
Joe Panik and David Phelps had MRIs today. Panik apparently is feeling better than last night and, at the moment, isn’t going on the IL.
Phelps has been put on the IL. That makes room for Hyun Jin Ryu. Lat strain is what they are calling his injury.
Apparently, the only player on the ‘taxi squad’ at the moment is AJ Cole, so if Panik goes on the IL he would be the guy until they can get someone else to the team.
And the team is saying that George Springer will be out longer than the 10 days. They feel that Springer’s ‘toughness and pain tolerance’ led them to believe he could be activated earlier. And that, at first, they thought the reoccurrence of the injury was a cramp/fatigue.
Alejandro Kirk will be out ‘at least’ four weeks. I’m personally guessing longer.
This afternoon’s lineup, game time is 3:30 Eastern.
