GameThread Game #66: Yankees at Blue Jays

MLB: Miami Marlins at Toronto Blue Jays Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

Thank you, Tom and everyone else for the very kind birthday wishes.

It felt amazing yet weird and overwhelming to be at a baseball game again, especially with over 52,000 (mostly maskless) people in attendance. The weather was perfect, and it was a great game that the Dodgers ultimately won...tied 3-3 until Mookie Betts hit a go ahead homer in the late innings (much prefer cheering for him as a Dodger than against him as a member of the Red Sox). Despite the 2 12 wait to get into the park my friends who didn’t come 2 hours early experienced, it was great to find normal and a sign that it’s not far away for everyone who is still under restrictions.

We have some news (sorry to Tom that it is combined in this post)

  • Charlie Montoyo announced today that TJ Zeuch will start tomorrow’s game against the Yankees.
  • George Springer felt great after his 5 outings in Buffalo last night, and will DH in tonight’s game.
  • Patrick Murphy has been reinstated from the IL
  • Travis Bergen has been reinstated from the IL and optioned down to AAA
  • Carl Edwards is on the injured list with an oblique strain

Here are tonight’s lineups. Gurriel will DH and Panik bats fifth.

We are glad you are here and hope you feel welcome. As a reminder, we have rules. Mostly it’s “don’t be terrible,” but these days it’s also, “please debate about baseball and not the coronavirus or vaccines.” If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, please stop. If you want to discuss the rules, don’t do it in the thread. Email Tom instead. We also have a BBB Glossary full of GameThread lingo you can find here. You can Adopt-a-Jay here, and here’s a helpful tutorial on how to post images in the comments.
