I didn’t expect this:
Alek Manoah has been suspended for five games for throwing at Maikel Franco during Sunday’s game.
Alek intends to appeal the suspension, but I doubt there will be any change, five games seems to the normal suspension for a starting pitcher. But by appealing, he can choose when to start it, by dropping the appeal say after his next start.
I disagree that Manoah intentionally threw at Franco. I think it slipped from his hand, but I can understand how it looked bad, coming right after back-to-back home runs. But MLB has declared it intentional, and we know they are never wrong.
Charlie Montoyo gets a one-game suspension, which he will serve tonight.
And we have some roster moves:
- George Springer is activated from the IL, surprise right?
- Newly acquired RH reliever Jacob Barnes has reported to the team, he’s available tonight.
- Rowdy Tellez has been sent back to the Bisons.
- Jonathan Davis was reinstated from the restricted list and optioned to the Bisons.
- Jared Hoying has been outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo, he could choose to become a free agent (making 40-man roster room for Barnes).
And you’ll remember Jeremy Beasley was sent out to the Bisons yesterday.
