Around The Nest is the weekly Toronto Blue Jays minor league podcast, featuring host Tyler Zickel of the Vancouver Canadians (high-A), joined this week by Pat Malacaro of the Buffalo Bisons (triple-A), new guy Nathan Strauss of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (double-A), and Andrew Thriffiley of the Dunedin Blue Jays (low-A).

You can also find Around The Nest on YouTube, Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Stitcher.

This week Tyler and Pat talked about Jonathan Davis’ impact on and off the field now that he is back in triple-A, the Bisons’ strong pitching, and their triple-A-leading bullpen ERA led by Bryan Baker, Connor Overton, and Kirby Snead.

We welcome Nathan Strauss, the Fisher Cats’ road play-by-play broadcaster, who made his Around The Nest debut from Bowie. The Baysox have more top-100 prospects than any other team and are division leaders, but they have been unable to douse the Fisher Cats’ flaming bats. Nathan also tells us that Austin Martin was placed on the IL a day after getting hit in the helmet with a pitch, and lets us know about Vinny Capra, who is on some kind of streak after his return from injury. Of course, also get the weekly updates on Gabriel Moreno, Otto Lopez, and Jordan Groshans.

With Tanner Kirwer and Marcus Reyes promoted to double-A, Tyler told us that Cameron Eden has stepped into Kirwer’s role in the lineup and has been raking and running amok on the bases. Tyler also updated us on Rafael Lantigua, Paxton Schultz, and Parker Caracci—who he thinks may be going off to New Hampshire soon.

Although Andrew has been called up to Buffalo to help with the big league team, he had been keeping an eye his Dunedin Blue Jays. After a rough start, the D-Jays are now 11-5 in their last 16 games and everyone in the clubhouse is confident. Andrew spotlighted Sem Robberse, who he said was a nice kid off the field but has a killer mentality on the mound. Low-A Southeast honoured Naswell Paulino as the pitcher of the week and Orelvis Martinez is becoming a superstar, being able to make in-game adjustments.

The Around The Nest crew also answered some of your questions! This week, we selected a few from stefan_0st, Ducey 66, and Mister Christer.
