The Red Sox are in town, and the Jays have the chance to make up some ground in the division. Let’s hope them getting beat by the AAAA Yankees is a sign of good things to come for our team.
We have some roster moves ahead of tonight’s game:
- Jonathan Davis is back up
- Alek Manoah has been placed on the IL with a back contusion as he slipped on the stadium stairs
- Thomas Hatch has been recalled
- Breyvic Valera was placed on family emergency leave
- Anthony Castro has had his optional assignment reversed. He has been placed on the major league IL with right ulnar nerve irritation (retroactive to July 12)
Here are tonight’s lineups. Grichuk will DH, and McGuire will catch.

We are glad you are here and hope you feel welcome. As a reminder, we have rules. Mostly it’s “don’t be terrible,” but these days it’s also, “please debate about baseball and not the coronavirus or vaccines.” If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, please stop. If you want to discuss the rules, don’t do it in the thread. Email Tom instead. We also have a BBB Glossary full of GameThread lingo you can find here. You can Adopt-a-Jay here, and here’s a helpful tutorial on how to post images in the comments.
