Blue Jays trade for Joakim Soria

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Jays have acquired another pitcher in 37-year-old veteran Joakim Soria from the Diamondbacks. He has a 4.30 ERA (3.74 FIP) this year with the snakes, who he signed with in the offseason on a one-year, $3.5M deal. Previously Soria has played for the Royals and the Athletics. He is a late inning reliever who has appeared in 31 games this year. He has six saves, three holds, and two blown saves. He will have a similar role to what Rafael Dolis has now for the team (although we hope much quicker).

The Jays also DFA’d Tyler Chatwood to make room for Jose Berrios.

This post will be updated when the return for Soria is announced.

It sounds like it will be PTBNL going to Arizona.

It looks like the Jays are finished trading:

Lots of stuff still going on:

  • Bryant to the Giants.
  • Freddy Galvis to the Phillies.
  • Hansel Robles to Red Sox.
  • Jon Lester to Cardinals.
  • Jake Marisnick to Padres.
  • John Curtiss to Brewers.
  • The big one is Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to Dodgers.
  • Daniel Norris to Brewers.
  • Adam Duvall to Braves.
  • Richard Rodriguez to Braves.

And like a dozen others.
