Around The Nest is the weekly Toronto Blue Jays minor league podcast, hosted by Tyler Zickel of the Vancouver Canadians (high-A). On this episode, Zick is joined by Pat Malacaro of the Buffalo Bisons who is back in the home broadcasting booth at Sahlen Field and Nathan Strauss of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (double-A) from Harrisburg.
We check in with Pat on the flaming-hot Buffalo Bisons, who have yet to lose in Buffalo (they now have recorded 33 home victories). Pat also touches on Anthony Kay, who he feels needs to find more consistency.
Nathan reports on the Fisher Cats, who have had to deal with a big turnover, as well as the very popular @FisherCats Twitter account. Demi Orimoloye and Samad Taylor continue to be hot bats, and there continues to be no updates about Gabriel Moreno’s injury. Adrian Hernandez and Luis Quinones have steadied themselves after a difficult start in double-A
Finally, Zick gives us the weekly O Update on Orelvis Martinez and discusses with Nathan about the players who have been promoted from Vancouver to New Hampshire. He also speaks about Spencer Horowitz’s discerning batter’s eye and sneaky power, and how Nick Fraze will be bringing a devastating slider along with him to double-A.
And yes, Demi Orimoloye did hit a 470-foot home run with an exit velocity of 105 mph.
YOU GUYS WANT TO SEE A DINGER???
