Something I’ve wanted for a couple of months now, is finally going to happen tomorrow. Kevin Smith is going to join the team tomorrow night in Washington.
Smith is hitting .286/.371/.576 with 19 home runs, 40 walks, and 83 strikeouts in 82 games for the Bisons. He’s thought of as a very good defensive shortstop, though I’d imagine he be put in at third base (unless Bo is more injured than they are letting on, but he stole a base tonight).
I’ll let you do the Silent Bob jokes in the comment thread (though I’m a big fan of Kevin Smith, the director, too).
Smith isn’t on the 40-man, so someone will have to come off the 40-man and someone will have to come off the active roster (I imagine many have a reliever in mind for both). Honestly, I don’t see a purpose in Breyvic Valera being on the team.
I am thrilled. Put him at third base and leave him there for the rest of the season.

Bisons manager Casey Candaele called him "a really strong shortstop" and a "team guy" when we talked earlier this year
