The Blue Jays have put Cavan Biggio on the IL. He’s still dealing with neck issues. Corey Dickerson gets his roster spot and will play today.
Cavan has had a rough time at the plate lately, hitting .154/.220/.250 in his last 17 games. I don’t know how much of that has to do with the neck issues, but he hasn’t had a good time of it this season. He started the season with a hand injury.
Dickerson came over in trade from the Marlins on June 29, He plays in 4 rehab games with the Bisons, hitting .267/.313/.333 (pretty close to his number in Miami in 62 games).
Breyvic Valera will play third tonight.
And the team announced that Jacob Barnes cleared waivers and will join the Bisons. Tyler Chatwood cleared waivers and is now a free agent.
I’m sure you have all heard that John Axford came out of last night’s Brewer’s game with an elbow issue. Sometimes baseball isn’t fair. In other ‘former Jays news’, the Twins have released Matt Shoemaker. He had a tough time with the Twins, putting up an 8.06 ERA in 16 games, 11 starts.
And the Jays have made a minor league trade with the Yankees, picking up catcher Kellin Deglan, a Canadian:
Per the @swbrailriders roster release, the Yankees have traded Triple-A catcher Kellin Deglan to the Blue Jays. Deglan is from Canada (BC) and non-40 man roster trades are still allowed.
