It has been kind of hard to write about the Blue Jays lately because the only thing worth talking about is how they can’t hit with RISP. And really, what is there to say about it.
Well, for a while there, they weren't hitting at all, and then they started hitting but just not with RISP. Maybe it is a small step towards getting back to normal.
But really, it is hard to come up with 500 words on why this is happening. But Mike Wilner talked to Dante Bichette and there was a couple of interesting things Dante said.
“These are young kids. They’re not tired,” Bichette told The Star on Saturday. “But what will happen is, with a young team, they’ll ride the roller-coaster more than an older player will. They’ll ride their highs and they’ll really friggin’ be low with their lows. And that kind of fries the brain a little bit. When you fry the brain in this game, it catches up with you late in the season.”
Yum fried brains. How to unfry?
“You’ve got to rely on your routine,” Bichette said. “That’s your sleep. That’s your nutrition. That’s your prep work in the cage. Think of it like a marathon. The guy who finishes in first place may be happy, but he’s just as beat up as everybody else. So everybody’s beat up right now. The younger players just need to learn how to stay on their routine.”
So the way to get out of this is to ‘do what you have been doing’. Good then.
I mean, if there was an easy answer, they would have come up with it by now. Slumps, you kind of have to ride out.
And there was this:
Guerrero, playing first, asked Cabrera for advice, and according to Bichette, “(Guerrero) said (Miggy) said, ‘Prepare like nobody and have a great routine.’ ”
I think the message is ‘stay on the routine’.
We had a poll asking how much money Robbie Ray was going to make after this season, let’s do the same for Marcus Semien.
Semien should get some MVP votes. He’s leading hitters in fWAR, 5.4, just ahead of Vlad’s 5.3.
Poll
If I suggest a 4 year, $100 contract for Semien

Jonah Keri plead guilty to domestic violence. The story isn’t fun to read.
Opinions are opinions and all, but it is hard to imagine a more wrong opinion:
Elton John's two best songs are (1) Crocodile Rock, and (2) the Bitch is Back.

That is all.
My wife is a big Elton John fan. We went to see him years ago, before we were married, and have seen him a couple of times since. The last time was a couple of years ago in Vegas when he did pretty much the same songs he did back all those years ago.
Anyway, the only way he could have been more wrong is if he choose that stupid Lion King song. My favorite Elton John album? The one he did with Leon Russell, in 2010, The Union.
