Jays DFA Hand, Activate Jansen

I didn’t expect this:

Brad Hand has been DFAed.

You’ll know he came in trade for Riley Adams just a month back. He did not do well for us. 7.27 ERA (Bill James once said that if you have the ERA of an airplane things aren’t working out) in 8.2 innings. I don’t know, seems like you should give someone more than 8 innings, but then Hand just didn’t look good.

And Danny Jansen has been activated from the IL. He was hitting .176/.259/.336 in 49 games (speaking of not doing well. For the Bisons he was hitting .238/.346/.381.

Danny will catch tonight.

There is a 40-man spot open, and the Jays can call up two players tomorrow. Maybe Merryweather?

Trent Thornton has been sent to Buffalo to make room for Jansen.
