Saturday Bantering: J.D. Martinez on Covid IL

And Jays news.

We get to watch a lot of baseball today. Two games for the price of one (as long as you aren’t going to the game). I guess that it is 78% of two games for the price of one.

I stayed up late to watch the bronze medal game last night. Very happy for Jose Bautista and the rest of the Dominican Republic team for getting the win, in a wild back-and-forth game. If either team’s bullpen could get outs, it would have been a blowout.

The Jays have called up Trent Thornton to be the 27th man for the doubleheader today.

Hopefully, there won’t be any carryover from yesterday's hit batter drama.

What a difference a week makes:

The Red Sox won’t have one of their best bats today, J.D. Martinez is going on the Covid IL. Hopefully, he’ll have a mild case. Connor Wong takes his place on the roster. Tanner Houch is their 27th man.

And the Yankees have troubles too. Aroldis Chapman has been put on the IL with elbow inflammation.
