Sunday Bantering: Bichette Day-to-Day with Shin Contusion

Bo Bichette is sitting for the first time this season today. Hazel Mae says he has two shin contusions from fouling balls off his legs in the last couple of games. Baseball players get contusions, I get bruises. He is day-to-day.

And the Red Sox have news too. Alex Verdugo has been placed on the paternity list. Congratulations to him and his wife, but couldn’t they have timed this to miss the entire series? I am ok with getting him out of the lineup. Also:

The Yankees are also having Covid issues. Anthony Rizzo has been put on the Covid list, with a positive test. He joining Gary Sanchez, Jordan Montgomery, and Gerrit Cole out with Covid. Aroldis Chapman is also on the IL for inflammation of the left elbow.

Their IL list includes Gio Urshela, Miguel Andujar, Clint Frazier, Aaron Hicks, Luke Volt, Chris Gittens, Tim Loscastro, Domingo German, Michael King, Corey Kluber, Darren O’Day, and Trey Amburgey.

So you can understand why they grabbed Jonathan Davis off waivers. He had 1 hit in 6 at-bats for them.

The Jays announced their starting rotation for our series against the Angels:

And, of course, right after I hit publish yesterday, the Jays announced that Patrick Murphy (I hope they give him more than one outing before sending him out this time) and Kirby Snead were called up. Tim Mayza was put on the IL with elbow inflammation and Ryan Borucki was optioned to Buffalo.

Rowdy Tellez is having a great time with the Brewers, hitting .323/.411/.613 with 5 home runs in 73 PA. I’m glad he’s doing great. I hope he keeps it up.
