Jays Roster Moves: Saucedo down, Hatch up, Valera back, Lamb DFAed

We knew there would be suspensions after last night’s fun.

Charlie Montoyo gets a one-game suspension. He will serve it tonight. John Schneider will be manager and Mark Budzinski will come into the dugout from his usual spot as the first-base coach.

And they are saying that Ryan Borucki will get a multiple-game suspension and he will likely appeal.

Update: Ryan gets a three-game suspension. He is appealing it.

And we have a couple of roster moves

  • Thomas Hatch has been called up with Taylor Saucedo has been optioned to Buffalo.
  • Breyvic Valera is back from the Covid IL with Jake Lamb getting DFAed to make room

Lamb hit .129/.256/.290 in 39 PA with the Jays. A pretty small sample, but he didn’t impress. Cavan Biggio will likely be up soon. Kevin Smith is still on the roster, after taking Valera’s when he was on the Covid IL.

Valera has been great against LHP (.333/.348/.381), and okish against RHP (.226/.294/.355). Both small samples. I doubt any of us thought getting Valera back from IL would be thought of as a big deal. But here we are.

And reporters are saying George Springer has been working in the outfield, and will likely be playing in the field this week.

Today’s lineup. Just a reminder that it is a 7:40 start time. Minneapolis is in the Central Time Zone.
