Jays Roster Moves: Espinal, Soria Back, Smith Down, Hatch IL

The Jays have made a couple of moves before tonight’s game

  • Santiago Espinal has been activated from the IL.
  • Joakim Soria is back from the family medical emergency list.
  • Thomas Hatch goes on the 10-day IL.
  • Kevin Smith goes back to Buffalo.

We last saw Espinal on August 28th, and I didn’t think he’d be back this year, but I’m happy to be wrong.

On top of that Gurriel is day-to-day, apparently, they think he’ll be able to hit before he’ll be able to throw. So he might be DH in the next couple of days.

And Ryan Borucki’s appeal has been heard and his suspension has dropped from 3 games to 2. I figured he would just drop the appeal, but I forgot that they hear appeals quicker at the end of the season. He wasn’t going to be pitching tonight anyway, as he pitched in the last two games.

Today’s lineup. Springer is back in the outfield. Espinal is back at third. Reese catches, Kirk DHes.
