The Blue Jays are making changes to the 28th spot in the active roster.
They have picked up Jake Lamb off waivers from the White Sox. He is a left-handed-hitting utility player, able to handle the corner spots in the infield and outfield. He was a power hitter at one time. He hit 29 home runs in 2016 and 30 in 2017.
This year he’s hitting .212/.321/.389 with 6 home runs, 17 walks, and 38 strikeouts in 43 games with the White Sox.
Likely a step up from Breyvic Valera, though I’d rather they keep playing Smith.
To make room on the 40-man, Conner Overton has been DFAed. I liked Conner. I hope he clears waivers.
Kirby Snead has been called up to Toronto to fill out the 28-man roster.
In other news, Brad Hand joins the 20 or so former Jays on the Mets. They have taken him off waivers.
And Robbie Ray was named AL Pitchers of the Month for August.
