GameThread Game 134: A’s @ Jays

At the end of yesterday’s game, my wife said ‘that’s why you always watch until the end. She’s right. I very very rarely leave a game before it is over in any sport I watch. Not that I’m likely to get that great finish like last night, but one in every 100 games I might. And even if it isn’t a game with a great comeback, there will be moments of entertainment.

Jake Lamb has arrived. Kirby Snead is heading back to Buffalo.

And a couple of injury updates:

  • Cavan Biggio took batting practice.
  • Julian Merryweather pitched a scoreless inning for Buffalo last night, getting a k.

If you are thinking plate umpire Fieldin Culbreth had a bad night yesterday, you are right. Not up there with the worst nights we’ve seen but a couple of bad calls for Springer and a bad call for Manoah. And yeah Umpire Scorecards got the score wrong.

Breyvic gets a start. After the big hit and walk yesterday, it is earned. And Corey Dickerson gets a chance to play CF.

We are glad you are here and hope you feel welcome. As a reminder, we have rules. Mostly it’s “don’t be terrible,” but these days, it’s also, “please debate about baseball and not the coronavirus or vaccines.” If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, please stop. If you want to discuss the rules, don’t do it in the thread. Email Tom instead. We also have a BBB Glossary full of GameThread lingo you can find here. You can Adopt-a-Jay here, and here’s a helpful tutorial on how to post images in the comments.

And just for me, though no one reads this, can we have a day off from ‘season’s over’ if the Jays fall behind?
